Ronja Lau: Schaffelle, Leder und Nieten Wie man mit Textilarchäologie bessere Filme machen kann Egal welchen historischen, historisierenden und antiken Film bzw. Serie man sieht, den Menschen vor mehr als 1000 Jahren wird die Fähigkeit abgesprochen, sich in mehr als nur Schaffelle und Lederlumpen zu kleiden. Woher kommt dieses Vorurteil und wie kann man mithilfe von Textilarchäologie ein realistisches Bild der Vergangenheit erzeugen? Dank der interdisziplinären Ergebnisse der Textilforschung erhalten wir teilweise überraschende und vor allem wunderschöne Rekonstruktionen von Outfits aus der Vergangenheit. Ronja Lau ist Prähistorische Archäologin und promoviert zurzeit an der Ruhr-Universität Bochum. Sie ist spezialisiert auf Textilarchäologie und untersucht die eisenzeitlichen Textilfunde aus dem Salzbergwerk Dürrnberg in Österreich. Das Edutainment-Format „Skeptics in the Pub“ kommt ursprünglich aus dem UK und verbindet unterhaltsame wissenschaftliche Vorträge mit Diskussion und Socializing in entspannter Atmosphäre. How to make better films with textile archaeology

No matter which historical, historicising and antique film or series you watch, people from more than 1000 years ago are denied the ability to dress in more than just sheepskins and leather rags. Where does this prejudice come from and how can textile archaeology be used to create a realistic picture of the past? Thanks to the interdisciplinary results of textile research, we sometimes get surprising and above all beautiful reconstructions of outfits from the past.

Ronja Lau is a prehistoric archaeologist and is currently doing her doctorate at the Ruhr University Bochum. She specialises in textile archaeology and is investigating the Iron Age textile finds from the Dürrnberg salt mine in Austria.

The edutainment format ‘Skeptics in the Pub’ originally comes from the UK and combines entertaining scientific lectures with discussion and socialising in a relaxed atmosphere.
